About the Partnership

The legislative bodies of the State of Baden-Wuerttemberg and the State of Connecticut first established an agreement for Educational Exchange and Collaboration (The BW-CT Exchange) in the spring of 1989 to facilitate the mobility of German students attending Baden-Wuerttemberg institutions of higher education, and American students attending Connecticut institutions of higher education. In the State of Baden-Wuerttemberg, the Ministry of Science, Research and Arts is the designated administrator for the agreement, as the University of Connecticut is in the State of Connecticut.

For more than 30 years, this partnership has grown to include more than just student exchange. New programs in faculty mobility, and research collaborations have flourished as both sides continue to affirm a longstanding and successful commitment to the value of intellectual freedom, educational excellence, and international cooperation in such fields as technology, business, law, and human rights.
